Operation Foco Divisas, carried out at the fiscal barriers of the state of Rio de Janeiro, applied more than R$535 million in infraction notices against companies and cargo carriers caught in an irregular situation in 2024. Disclosed in the balance sheet this Thursday (23) , the value is 165.4% higher than that seen in 2023.
The numbers reflect the result of the integration between the Civil House Secretariat, responsible for coordinating the program, and the Finance Secretariat, with inspection work in the state’s borders, combating irregularities. With the actions, tax collection and asset recovery for state coffers can be applied in several areas, such as security, health, education and basic sanitation.
According to the special undersecretary for Foreign Exchange Control, Eduardo Vaz Castelano, the program completed three years in August last year and has been working on inspections daily. “During this period, we showed positive evolution and are contributing positively to the growth of asset recovery for the State. The intelligence work carried out between Operação Foco and the State Revenue Service contributed significantly to reducing the number of approaches, making the assertiveness in the approaches greater”, he explains in a note.
The Superintendent of Inspection at the Finance Department, Elson Caetano, said that the actions integrated with the Civil House contribute to combating irregularities and unfair competition. 
Inspection actions take place at fixed tax barrier posts in Itatiaia, Comendador Levy Gasparian, Campos dos Goytacazes, Itaperuna and Angra dos Reis, in addition to flying actions in the metropolitan region of Rio.
