“Have you heard any rumors about new immigration policies? Only trust official sources from the United States Government. “Do not be fooled by rumors and always verify that the information is true,” the diplomatic headquarters published on Facebook.
“The only official information is that which comes from US Government sources,” he emphasized.
The statement from the diplomatic headquarters responds to a wave of rumors about policies supposedly directed at Cuba and generated on social networks.
This Wednesday, journalist Mario Vallejo he referred to on his Facebook profile to a supposed “draft” of new measures from the Trump Administration that would be pending signature.
The publication mentions alleged far-reaching decisions, including the suspension of sending remittances to Cuba and all direct commercial flights between both countries, as well as restrictions on Cuban exiles traveling back to the Island. It also includes possible deportation. of people with criminal records or with alleged links to the Havana regime.
So far, there is no formal confirmation of changes in Washington’s policies regarding the Island.
The only measures of the new US Administration related to the Island were announced last Monday, when Donald Trump assumed the presidency of the North American country for the second time.
That day, the president revoked the Biden Administration’s order to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
According to confirmed An official note from the White House, the order is part of a series of initial rescissions of executive decrees and measures considered “harmful” by the new Administration.
