Marset's extradition would take a month

On February 25, Rosarito Montanía, criminal judge of Organized Crime guarantees, declared in absentia and ordered the capture of seven of the accused in the framework of the operation “A Ultranza Paraguay”.

They are Sebastián Enrique Marset (Uruguayan and leader of the structure), Miguel Ángel Insfrán, Gianina García Troche, Diego Nicolás Marset, José Alberto Insfrán Galeano, Gilberto Esteban Sandoval Giménez and Marta Sofía Noguera. These people are accused of integrating an international criminal structure dedicated to trafficking cocaine to Europe and Africa. Subsequently, money laundering took place in Paraguay.

Before a week had elapsed since the first disposition, yesterday, Wednesday, the same judge declared the international capture of the aforementioned persons.

It should be remembered that, according to the latest Senad report, there are eight people detained. They are; Alberto Koube Ayala, Fátima Koube Ayala, Jon Von Zastrow Masi, Luis Fernando Sebriani González, Liz Fabiola Taboada, María Noelia Colmán, Conrado Ramón Insfrán and Fernando González Jara.

The leader of the criminal organization, Sebastián Enrique Marset, is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under house arrest for carrying an adulterated Paraguayan passport.

Senad had the collaboration of the DEA (Drug Control Administration in English) of the United States, Europol, the General Directorate for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking of Uruguay and the Public Ministry. The objective was the arrest of 43 people, of which seven have already been captured. Assets worth US$100 million were also seized.

INTERPOL

Interpol sources reported that the international arrest warrant will be transferred to the 198 countries that are part of the organization. And in the hypothetical case that one of the fugitives is found, Interpol Paraguay is notified and the extradition process begins there.

In other words, these people will be captured, then they will be kept in preventive detention, until Interpol Paraguay agents go to the country to carry out the extradition.

Marset was captured in October 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for having an adulterated Paraguayan passport. As Interpol is present in that country, the extradition process will last between 30 and 45 days according to the same sources.

DETAILS

According to data provided by the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad), the mega operation took 27 months, during which time information was transferred between international authorities. The objective was a broad criminal scheme dedicated to the trafficking of tons of cocaine from South America to ports in Europe and Africa.
