Cancún, QRoo.- Governor Mara Lezama inaugurated the Mexican Caribbean Pavilion at the International Tourism Fair of Spain 2025 (Fitur), in addition to accompanying the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez, at the inauguration of the Mexico Pavilion.
Within the Mexico Pavilion, Quintana Roo stands out for being the largest of the 22 states that attend this business meeting on tourism in the old continent.
In the Mexican Caribbean space, among the 12 destinations in Quintana Roo, the governor made special mention of Maya Ka’an, which represents community tourism in an international event, in addition to being the destination that grew the most in 2024 at the state level.
“Here in Fitur, in this great fair, it has its space as Maya Ka’an should always have been, the one that grew the most in 2024, and that has so much to offer the world, with that community tourism, with a gift of service, Long live Maya Ka’an,” said the president.
During this first day of kick-off at Fitur, the president announced that Cancun will host the Spanish League Congress in 2026, as part of the great events that the Mexican Caribbean attracts as a world-class destination.
He also announced the opening and construction of 5 new hotels in the Mexican Caribbean in 2025, which will add 2,500 new rooms to strengthen the tourism infrastructure and the generation of thousands of new direct and indirect jobs.
The hotels that will be built are from Grupo Excellence, which will invest in a hotel development in Puerto Morelos; a Majestic Elegance in Costa Mujeres, an H10 hotel, a Riu Ventura Hotel and a Meliá Group hotel in Cancún will also be built.
On the previous day, the governor presented in Spain the Culinary Experience by Mexican Caribbean, a campaign that will promote the destinations of Quintana Roo, its local products, and above all, what the native communities achieve through gastronomy.
In addition, Quintana Roo received awards at the World Travel Awards 2024. The awards won were in the categories of Leading Beach Destination in Mexico; Leading Destination City of Cities of Mexico and Central America 2024; Tourism Office of the Leading City of Mexico and Central America 2023; and Leading Destination for Meetings and Conferences in Mexico and Central America 2024.
