Tempers heated due to lack of response from the MOP in Darién

The residents of Tortí, Ipetí, Aguas Frías and other communities along the Pan-American highway, on the way to the province of Darién, feel mocked by the indecision of the authorities of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP); This is what leaders of the pro-Pan-American highway movement denounce, who speak of a possible protest and street closure in Tortí for this Wednesday, March 3.

The complaint arises after the Secretary General of the MOP Ibrain Valderrama, through the Secretary of the Mayor of Chepo, Ronald Soriano, announced the change of location of the planned meeting with the residents and officials that had been agreed to be held in Tortí, without However, it was changed to the Municipal Council of Chepo.

Benildo Bultrón, President of the Committee for the Pan-American Highway, said that this is a “mockery and rudeness”, since everything was ready for them to go to Tortí and show the impassable conditions of the streets.

“Chepo has no street problems, we have the problem here from Cañitas to Aguas Frías Number 1, Tortí and all the way of production to and from the province of Darién, we have said it ad nauseam, it is a real disaster,” he said. Bultron.

“We demand respect from the MOP Minister Rafael Sabonge and the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, we demand that they personally attend to this situation because the patience of this people has reached its limit and we will not continue to tolerate this institutional rudeness,” concluded Benildo Bultrón .
