Rubén Bichara says blackouts are due to lack of network maintenance

The increase of losses in it electrical sectoras a consequence of the lack of maintenance on the networks, has forced the Government to apply energy cuts to increase service charges. This is what the former vice president of the Dominican Corporation of State Electrical Companies considered it (CDEEE), Ruben Bichara.

Bichara pointed out that the Distribution Companies of Electricity (EDE) registered in 2020 losses 27%, while currently these amount to 45%.

“This deficit is what forces the suspension of the electrical supply, with the aim of reducing the significant levels of losses that he Government is forced to cover,” the political leader explained in a press release.

He compared the situation of the losses of energy with a hose with multiple holes, where half of the water is lost before reaching the end of the conduit.

The member of the opposition Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) stated that the own authorities of the Government current recognized the lack of maintenance on the networks, which has caused an increase in losses.

“He generated deficit for the losses of energy has exceeded 1,500 million dollars“, he assured, when quantifying the losses in about five million dollars diaries.

Bichara attributed the electricity deficit to the lack of management, planning and investment in the sector.
