AN will declare former President Álvaro Uribe a “public enemy”

The National Assembly (AN) will declare, during the extraordinary session this Tuesday, former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe as a “public enemy” of Venezuela, as reflected in the agenda of the parliamentary plenary session.

The action of the Legislative Branch is in response to the recent statements of the former president, linked to paramilitary groups and drug traffickers, who asked foreign powers for military intervention against Venezuela.

In the face of this aggression, different representatives of the National Government have spoken out to repudiate these words. In this sense, the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, assured that “the Venezuelan people have spoken clearly and loudly in rejection of the attempts to violate our territorial sovereignty by Álvaro Uribe and his local allies of extremist fascism led by a deranged and a stateless puppet.”

Through his Telegram channel, he highlighted that Venezuela, as a national union, will never allow “such criminals to appropriate the popular will or occupy the political spaces that should be at the service of democracy, peace and development. In the voice of Commander Chávez we respond to these criminals and cowardly vermin.”

Álvaro Uribe’s statements also provoked the rejection of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), who spoke out through a statement published on social networks.

“In the face of this new and flagrant example of interference in the internal affairs of the country, the sons and daughters of the United Liberating Army, we will remain faithful to our tradition and pacifist vocation, however, we will not hesitate to confront, combat and neutralize any threat or body armed,” said the FANB.

Ordinary session

In addition to the declaration against Uribe Vélez, the AN will also debate the designation of the representative of the National Assembly before the Council of State. This is in accordance with the provisions of article 252 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in accordance with article 130 of the Internal Regulations and Debates of the parliament.

Likewise, in the session scheduled for this Tuesday they will also debate the draft agreement aimed at commemorating and extolling the work carried out in life by the teacher Aristóbulo Istúriz, who was part of the governments of former president Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro.
