Nightclub owner was murdered for refusing to play ‘Coqueta’; this is known

Last Sunday, January 19, 2025, the municipality of Solano, in the department of Caquetá, was the scene of a tragic event that has shocked the local community. Guillermo Castro Valencia, affectionately known as ‘Negro’, a well-known merchant and nightclub owner in the region, was shot dead in his own establishment.

According to eyewitness accounts, a client approached Castro to request the reproduction of ‘Coqueta’, a popular carranga song. Not receiving an immediate response, the customer showed signs of irritation. Minutes later, he returned to the area where Castro operated the sound equipment and, upon noticing that his request had not yet been met, he pulled out a firearm and shot him, killing him instantly.

The news of the murder of Guillermo Castro has generated deep consternation among the inhabitants of Solano, who describe him as a happy and kind person, leaving an indelible mark on all those who knew him. The Municipal Administration of Solano issued a statement deeply regretting his loss and expressing solidarity with his family and friends at this time of immense sadness. 

Local authorities have begun the relevant investigations to clarify the details of the homicide and find the whereabouts of the person responsible. So far, there has been no information about the identity of the attacker or possible progress in his capture. The Caquetá Police continue to collect testimonies and evidence that will clarify this act of intolerance that has left the community in mourning. 

This unfortunate incident highlights the growing concern over acts of violence arising from trivial situations, evidencing an alarming lack of tolerance and respect for human life. The Solano community has expressed its rejection of this type of behavior and has called for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. 

On social networks, numerous citizens have expressed their indignation and sadness at what happened, sending messages of support and solidarity to Guillermo Castro’s family. Comments like “What great intolerance. “Condolences to his family” reflect the feelings of a community that still cannot understand how such a trivial action could lead to such a tragic outcome. 

Local authorities have reiterated their commitment to clarify this fact and have urged citizens to collaborate with any information that may be useful in the investigation. Likewise, they have emphasized the importance of promoting tolerance and respect in all social interactions, in order to prevent similar situations from being repeated in the future.

«Today we deeply mourn not only his loss, but also the violent and incomprehensible circumstances of his death. We sympathize with his family, friends and loved ones at this time of immense sadness,” said the Mayor’s Office of Solano in a publication.
