The national verification of the nominal list that the National Electoral Institute (INE) will carry out in the country for the judicial elections will not be complete, as in previous processes, due to the budget reduction, so this procedure will be carried out on a sample basis. through two surveys.
The first will be to check the coverage of the electoral roll in the national territory, which will be drawn up from February 16 to 28; The second will be the update of the nominal list and will apply from March 1 to 15. The procedure to review national coverage will be applied in 3,200 electoral sections of the country, while the update of the nominal list will be carried out only in 2,000.
On December 16, the INE indicated that this verification would not be applied in all the electoral sections of the country for the elections of the Judicial Branch, which was criticized by officials of the institute itself, considering that said procedure is essential to give validity of the electoral nominal lists.
Data from the INE indicate that as of January 16, the Electoral Register is made up of 101 million 225 thousand 808 citizens both in the national territory and abroad who requested a valid voting credential.
Meanwhile, the nominal list is made up of 99 million 67 thousand 810 Mexicans, who have a valid credential and therefore can vote.
Of the 99 million voters in Mexico, 13,200,000 are over 65 years of age, so annual verification is necessary in order to review deaths and update it, as they represent more than 13 percent of the total number of individuals with valid identification. .
