César Acuña referred to the crime situation in La Libertad after the attack on the headquarters of the Public Ministry in Trujillo.
Acuña said that he requested changes in police personnel in his region since last year, however, he expressed that his requests were not heard from the Executive.
“Since last year, we have asked that the intelligence people be changed and they never did it, that the investigation people be changed and they never did it. That means that the Government does not want to invest in security, no one can cover the sun with a finger”, he declared to RPP.
After the Executive’s announcement that the Police and Armed Forces take control of the city, the governor of La Libertad welcomed this measure. Furthermore, he reiterated that this was a request he made months ago.

A criminal attack with a powerful explosive charge left material damage at the headquarters of the Public Ministry of La Libertad, located on block four of Jesús de Nazareth Avenue and the intersection of Daniel Alcides Carrión, in the city of Trujillo. The criminal attack occurred at approximately 12:26 in the morning on Monday, January 20. According to police information, the explosion occurred outside the Public Ministry and also hit a car with license plate T1D-268, which was completely destroyed. The driver of the vehicle was injured.
Likewise, a security guard from the Public Ministry was also injured. Both were rushed to the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo to receive medical attention.
According to the National Police of Peru, criminals arrived aboard a motorcycle and used a backpack from a delivery company. Then, one of the thugs got out of the vehicle and threw the powerful explosive charge.
The shock wave destroyed the bars, window glass and the garden of this entity. The powerful explosion also hit some businesses in the area and homes.
Material damage
The explosion hit the business, Your cold house (artisanal ice cream), which is located on block 2 of Jesús de Nazareth Avenue and the intersection of Daniel Alcides Carrión. Here the window panes were shattered.
It also hit 20 homes in the area where the extortion attack took place.
Meanwhile, the glass windows of the seven floors of the Public Ministry of La Libertad were destroyed.
This powerful explosive charge also affected one of the pavilions of the National University of Trujillo, which is located in front of the Public Ministry.
