In a speech lasting around 30 minutes, Donald Trump gave his first speech as the new president of the United States this Monday (20). He reaffirmed his intention to retake the Panama Canal and combat illegal migration in the country, especially from the border with Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico, Trump reiterated, will be renamed the Gulf of America.
The president stated that he will declare a national energy emergency, in order to resume, on a large scale, the production of unsustainable sources, especially oil and gas, to guarantee the country’s strategic reserves, as well as the availability of energy for northern industries. -Americans. And he also promised to revoke environmental obligations in favor of electric vehicles, in order to maintain the commitment to manufacturers of vehicles with combustion engines.
Trump once again stated that, to protect American workers, he intends to tax products originating in other countries. He reiterated some of his positions contrary to the so-called gender ideology, saying that “there are only two genders: male and female”, and that he will put “an end to the policy of trying to social engineer race and gender, promoting a society that will be based on merit, without seeing color”.
Illegal immigration
“All illegal entry will be immediately prevented, and we will begin the process of returning millions of illegal immigrants to their country of origin. We will reinstate the ‘stay in Mexico’ policy and put the arrest and deport law into practice. Troops will be sent to the south to make it difficult to enter our country. Furthermore, I will designate the cartels [de drogas] as international terrorist organizations”, said the president, who, for the second time, assumes the White House.
Trump added that he will revive legislation from 1708 on immigrants, through which his government will be able to use all public security forces to “eliminate gangs” that commit crimes in American cities and neighborhoods. “As commander in chief, there is no greater responsibility than defending our country from threats and invasions. I will do this at a level never seen before in our country,” he said, stating that he will soon change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
Powerful and respected
The new president has said he will return the United States to its place as the most powerful and respected nation in the world. “We will have the greatest armed force the world has ever seen,” he said.
Tump recalled that the Panama Canal was an American project ceded to that country, at the cost of 38 thousand lives lost during its construction. “After that, we were treated cruelly, after offering this gift that should never have been given. The spirit of this gift was completely violated, with surcharges on American ships. We were not treated fairly, especially by China, which operates the canal. Therefore, we will take it back”, he promised.
“My message today is that it is time, once again, to act with courage, vigor and the vitality of the greatest nations in history,” he added.
Energy
Trump announced that, this Monday, he will declare a national energy emergency, with the aim of reducing prices and helping the country’s industrial sectors, in addition to restoring strategic oil reserves.
“We will once again be an industrial country, with more oil and gas than any other country. We will lower prices and refill our strategic reserves. And we will export our energy. We will once again be a rich nation with the black gold that is beneath our feet,” he said.
“And we will put an end to green deals. We will revoke the obligations on electric vehicles, saving our automotive industry and maintaining our commitment to our automakers”, he added.
The president promised to reform the trade system soon “to protect American workers and families. Therefore, instead of taxing our citizens, we will set tariffs for other countries.”
golden age
“The golden age of the United States begins now. From now on, our country will flourish and be respected. We will be the envy of everyone, and we will not allow anyone to take advantage of us. I will put America first,” he said.
According to Trump, the US faces a crisis of confidence “after a establishment corrupt and radical, where the pillars were broken, making it difficult to face simple crises”, in reference to problems such as the fire that devastated Los Angeles. He also criticized the health system that did not act satisfactorily in disaster situations and the education system “that makes our students hate our country”.
“But everything will change quickly starting today,” Trump said. “My life was saved to make America great again,” he added, remembering the attack he was a victim of during the election campaign.
In his inauguration speech, Donald Trump also reiterated his defense of freedom of expression, something that, according to him, was put at risk by the previous government.
