The official sent a message of gratitude and highlighted the achievements of his administration.
Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo made his departure from office official and announced that he presented his resignation letter to President Gustavo Petro, ensuring that it was an opportunity at a historic moment for the country.
“We leave a country aimed at consolidating itself as an intermediate power, strengthening strategic alliances and expanding our multilateral vision. “Colombia is today a key actor both in the South and in the Global North, with a diplomacy that promotes dialogue and international cooperation,” Murillo stated.

Likewise, highlighted the efforts he carried out on issues such as peace, human rights, the migration crisis, democracy and the well-being of the Colombian diaspora.
“We made diplomacy a service for the people. We arrive with international cooperation to Colombia extended abroad and to the territories in the country affected by climatic events. We reformed the issuance of passports, modernizing the system, reducing fees and guaranteeing free passports for prioritized sectors,” he added.
He also recalled the difficulties of his administration due to political polarization and the efforts to overcome the differences of different situations.

“In the midst of coincidences and differences, we demonstrate that, when dialogue and consensus-building take precedence, it is possible to move towards a better country. We confirm that the internal debate, when channeled with responsibility and prudence, strengthens unity in plural and diverse Colombia,” he stated.
The chancellor’s announcement comes just when he has an agenda in New York where he is expected to present the quarterly balance of progress in the implementation of the peace agreements before the UN Security Council.
It should be noted that Murillo denounced to the United Nations the current situation that is affecting the communities of Catatumbo due to the fighting between the ELN and the FARC dissidents.
