What will be the impact of Trump's ads? Ambassador Carlos Pareja gives his analysis

Within the framework of the second inauguration of donald trump as president of the USAhe Peruvian ambassador in that country, Carlos Pareja shared his analysis in an interview with Peru21. Pareja addressed the main points of the president’s speech, its economic and political implications, and the challenges that his agenda represents for Latin America.

The ambassador highlighted that the concept of “Make America Great Again” (Make America Great Again) was the focus of the speech. From his opening to his closing, Trump emphasized his commitment to strengthening the United States economically, militarily, and politically.

Pareja highlights that the president will seek to implement changes immediately, taking advantage of his time of greatest influence before the next legislative elections.

Among the decisions announced by Trump, the revocation of the electric vehicle mandate and the Green Deal stood out as controversial measures. The president plans to boost the US oil and gas industry, seeking energy independence and reducing dependence on imports from countries like Venezuela.

“This could lead to stricter sanctions against the government of Nicolás Maduro, as the United States will become less dependent on Venezuelan oil”said Pareja. Additionally, the US hydrocarbon industry will undergo a “repowering” that could transform the global energy market.

The ambassador also analyzed the security policies that Trump plans to implement, such as the declaration of national emergency on the southern border, the deployment of Armed Forces to reinforce border limits and the classification of cartels as terrorist groups.

“This movement involves the application of international laws that will allow these organizations to be pursued not only within the United States, but also in collaboration with other countries,” Pareja explained. In addition, the president will seek to close the legal gaps that allow irregular migration.

Trump’s speech also included criticism of the Panama Canal tariffs, calling them “excessive” for American commercial and military vessels. Pareja considered these statements as a possible start of urgent negotiations with Panama to avoid trade sanctions.although he stressed that the treaty that returned the canal to the Panamanians cannot be reversed.

In the financial field, Trump avoided referring directly to the cryptocurrency market. However, Pareja noted that this is an issue that will likely be approached with caution. along with the Treasury Department and other institutions, given its connection to market volatility and its impact on the economy.
