Heavy rains are expected to hit part of Santa Catarina again this Monday (20). According to the state Civil Defense, between today’s afternoon and evening, the advance of a cold front associated with the action of a sea cyclone tends to cause isolated thunderstorms, with lightning, as well as gusts of wind and the formation of hail.
The Civil Defense alert once again puts the population on alert after a weekend with no record of serious events related to rainfall. In the Greater Florianópolis, Middle and Lower Vale do Itajaí, north and south coasts and in the extreme east of the Upper Vale do Itajaí, and the North and South plateaus, the risk of flooding, flash floods, shattering and falling trees and branches is high, with the consequent damage to the electrical network.
Temperatures are expected to rise between tomorrow (21) and Wednesday (22), exceeding 35 degrees Celsius (ºC) in some areas of the Greater West and the coast of Santa Catarina, with a low risk of storms and other events on the border with Paraná . On Thursday (23), the forecast is that instability will gain strength again, with storms spreading across the state.
Last week (featured photo), heavy rains caused destruction in the state, displacing families. At least one death was recordedin the city of Governador Celso Ramos, whose city hall declared an emergency situation, along with 12 other municipalities in Santa Catarina: Balneário Camboriú, Biguaçu, Camboriú, Florianópolis, Gaspar, Ilhota, Itapema, Porto Belo, São José, Palhoça, São Pedro de Alcântara and Tijucas.
Until Saturday (18), when the rains gave a brief respite in a large part of the state, the State Secretariat for Civil Protection and Defense already counted 320 homeless people and 995 displaced people.
