The Institute of Public Managers of Peru (IGPP) reported that the District Municipality of El Tambo registered an alarming increase in its levels of corruption between the years 2023 and 2024, going from 34% to 70%, becoming one of the communes with the further growth in this negative indicator.
The report presented by the Comptroller General of the Republic also details a significant increase in corruption in other municipalities in the province of Huancayo. Among them, the Municipality of Chilca stands out from 51.2% to 67.4%, Municipality of Sapallanga from 41.8% to 51.2%, Municipality of Chongos Alto from 30.2% to 31.5%, Municipality of Sicaya from 28.4% to 31.4%.
On the other hand, progress was reported in reducing corruption rates in some communes. The most notable case is that of the Municipality of Huayucachi, which went from 36.5% in 2023 to 35.7% in 2024, demonstrating that, although slightly, it is possible to implement measures that contribute to combating this problem.
