María Corina Machado sent a new message this Sunday, January 19, in an almost six-minute video in which she asks the government of Nicolás Maduro to facilitate a democratic transition in the country.

“Maduro and those who support this tyranny must be very clear about this, facilitate change through good means, because no one will be able to govern this brave people in a dictatorship,” said Machado.

The founder of Vente Venezuela indicated that they managed to unite the support of democratic governments and that the Maduro government is increasingly isolated internationally and cornered within the country. Furthermore, he added that Chavismo is at its most vulnerable and fractured at its core.

“Repression is the only thing they have left and this is not a sustainable strategy and much less a show of real strength, it is essentially a very short-term tactic, which reflects the regime’s fear of losing control to an adversary. Unbridled repression is an indicator that the balance of power is shiftingbecause they feel increasingly vulnerable,” said the opposition leader.

Machado also recalled that on July 28, 2024, Venezuelans issued a popular and sovereign mandate in the presidential elections, which he insisted must be followed. Likewise, he added that it is a mandate that does not expire and that it became a debt of the Maduro government.

The politician also said that the opposition leadership managed to break down all barriers prior to the presidential elections. “The sole purpose of National Unity is to enforce the sovereign mandate of July 28 and this country will not admit maneuvers with secondary purposes or personal power projects,” he expressed.

Machado also stated that “elections are for choosing and not for washing the face of tyranny.”

“The elections were on July 28, that day the people elected and defeated the regime with their own rules, the result must and will be respected. Until this result comes into force, it is not appropriate to participate in elections of any kind.”, he defended.

In his opinion, “going to vote again and again without respecting the results is not defending the vote, it is distorting the popular vote as a means of democratic struggle.” The Maduro government has said that it is preparing some nine elections for 2025.

“Whoever does not respect and defend the result of the popular vote does not have the morality to ask for the popular vote again,” said the leader.

Finally, he indicated that the only possible negotiation with the Maduro government is for the democratic and orderly transition, which would be led by the leadership that received this mandate in the primaries on October 22, 2023 and the presidential elections on July 28, 2023. 2024.
