“We are talking about deployment in terms of health, in terms of food, in terms of shelter for all these families,” reported Foreign Minister Gil
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, confirmed that the Venezuelan authorities deployed a humanitarian assistance operation on the border with Colombia to assist those displaced by the armed conflict between guerrillas in the Norte de Santander department.
In a message published on his Telegram channel, the chancellor assured that, following the guidelines of President Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela is always ready to help on the border.
“We are talking about deployment in terms of health, in terms of food, in terms of shelter for all these families who have been forced to move, as on other occasions, to Venezuelan territory,” he explained.
Gil also reported that the national authorities are coordinating with the Colombian Government to provide greater attention and resources to people who must leave the northern Santander territory in the midst of the conflict.
“We have sent and called your Foreign Ministry precisely to offer you all the support so that the civilian population that finds itself in need of moving, of leaving their homes, of their territory, can find in Venezuela that refuge, that attention to their families. ”, he stressed.
Clashes between members of the ELN armed groups and FARC dissidents have intensified in the binational border area, which has caused the forced displacement of hundreds of people to Venezuela.
