The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, recognized as the first tourist wonder of Colombia, has reached a new record of visitors, consolidating itself as one of the most emblematic destinations in the country.
Record Visitors in 2024
During the year 2024, the Salt Cathedral received 705,045 visitors, surpassing all previous records and reaffirming its attractiveness for both national and international tourists.
To enrich the visitor experience, the Underground Museum was inaugurated, housing 22 works sculpted in rock salt and marble, offering a deep immersion into the history and symbolism of the place.
The Salt Cathedral is also notable for its cultural events, such as the inauguration of the Christmas lighting on November 29, 2024, which featured performances by local artists and special lighting that enhances the majesty of the underground temple.
This underground monument has been highlighted by renowned publications such as National Geographic and Lonely Planet, establishing itself as an essential destination for travelers visiting Colombia.
The administration of the Salt Cathedral continues to implement sustainability strategies and promote the participation of the local community in the management and conservation of the site, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
