The Colombian James Rodríguez caused a penalty this Saturday in his debut in Mexican soccer and collaborated in León’s 1-2 victory over Atlas in the Clausura tournament.

A goal from Argentine Adonis Frías and an own goal from Víctor Frías gave León the victory, after Atlas had taken the lead with a goal from Eduardo Aguirre.

James, who had entered the field in the 64th minute for the Argentine Emiliano Rigoni, He appeared in the area in the 78th minute and was knocked down by his compatriot Camilo Vargas, goalkeeper of the Rojinegros, who caused a penalty, well taken by Frías.

After an emotionless first half, Atlas took the lead in the 63rd minute with an elegant goal from Aguirre from outside the area. A minute later, James Rodríguez replaced Rigoni and León began to play better until they tied.

The visitors looked for victory, Carlos Cisneros failed in the 87th minute on an exact pass from James and in the 92nd minute Vargas saved Atlas from a shot by Sebastián Santos.

It was in ’95 when León secured the victory. The Venezuelan Jhonder Cádiz shot into the area and Frías pushed the ball into his own goal.

With the victory, León rose to sixth place with a win in a game and three points, half that of the leader Tigres, who this Friday beat Mazatlán 2-1.

A goal from Jesús Garza and an own goal from goalkeeper Hugo González gave the Tigres the victory, while Argentine Lucas Merolla scored for the visiting team.

Tigres has two wins in two outings and six points, two above Toluca, which tied 1-1 with Monterrey; of the champion América, with a similar result against Tijuana, and of Juárez FC, winner this Saturday 1-0 of Cruz Azul.

This Saturday Toluca tied with Monterrey; Brazilian Helinho gave the advantage to Argentine coach Antonio Mohamed’s Diablos, and Canales scored for Martín Demichelis’ Rayados.
