The brand new dean of the College of Engineers of La Libertad, Enrique Luján Silva, proposed to the political authorities (mayors and governor) that they see in the professionals of this order possible advisors for the large projects they plan to execute. They are willing to resume the function of issuing technical and collegiate opinions whenever requested.

He said that it was something that had been stopped and they are going to resume it, since it is one of the fundamental principles of the College of Engineers.
“By their very nature, professional associations are advisory entities and they work in a coordinated manner with the authorities and with the academy. Now that we have entered into management, we are attentive to the requirements of the authorities; these days we have even received visits from mayors who are interested in resuming this action,” he stated.
Supervisory role
He commented that if the situation warrants it, they are also willing to play an oversight role.
“The ideal is to work from the beginning with big projects so that things turn out in the best way. What’s more, there may be an interconnection with other professional associations. “This is one of the purposes that we want to implement,” he added.

Works
He pointed out that the works that, from his point of view, require greater control, are those currently being carried out in the Trujillo ravines. These are currently under the supervision of the National Infrastructure Authority (ANIN). The El León ravine has already been delivered, but work is still underway in San Ildefonso and San Carlos.
Enrique Luján also mentioned that the work on the tracks in the urban area of Trujillo and surrounding areas should be “highlighted.”
“I believe that we must also focus on the development of the city so that it is in line with urban expansion. “We must have a master plan, see the type of area, soil and other important points that lead us to have order, just as happens in large cities in the world,” he added.

The dean of the College of Engineers of La Libertad indicated that if any local political authority needs a technical opinion, they can request it formally. “We can work in a coordinated manner with your programmatic plan, to be there from the beginning of the works, this is regardless of the management in charge”he pointed out.

It should be noted that on January 15, the National Electoral Tribunal of the College of Engineers of Peru issued resolution No. 040-2024, through which it declared the election of the national dean null and void, because alleged defects had been detected in the process. . However, it is clarified that this does not affect the elections in the departmental councils. This means that Enrique Luján’s election is recognized.
