Incredible. The Minister of Health, Cesar Vasquezcame out yesterday in defense of the head of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñezand tried to hold the media responsible for the alarming increase in citizen insecurity in our country.
Although he acknowledged that there is an increase in the number of crimes committed daily in Lima and the provinces, Vásquez tried to blame the press for the advancement of crime.
“If we dedicate ourselves to communicating that things are gaining on us, the criminal advances, if we communicate rather that gangs are captured every day and that we are going after those gangs, I believe that criminals will slow down a little. Let’s help with more positive, more constructive communication,” he alleged, and trying to minimize the facts he added that the levels of violence are growing day by day in the world, not only in Peru.
“It is the product of a series of factors that come from education at home, in the family, from mental health problems, from the violence itself in which children now grow up and develop, but we hope that with the measures that are they have been taking on behalf of the Government and many allies, including private companies, these things are decreasing,” he continued.
The Minister of Health also supported his counterpart from the Interior sector, Juan José Santiváñez, indicating that he reports a series of information daily. “Every day gangs are captured, today one gang is captured, tomorrow three appear, today criminals are captured and unfortunately tomorrow or the day after sometimes the Prosecutor’s Office releases them,” he declared.
He added that the change of ministers will not allow progress. “We must allow the work of the ministers to be sustainable. Congress has every right to question him, in fact they have already questioned him more than once, I see that he is a minister who works, who is clashing with various mafias ( …), let’s help with this task because if we rather hinder it, crime advances,” he insisted.
