Antonio Ciriaco urges Dominicans to be prudent with spending

Santo Domingo. – The economist Antonio Ciriaco Cruz, urged citizens to spend money well in the current international geopolitical environment which is not yet well defined, and could give a changing economic turn.

The also dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), insisted that “there is an international environment that will be changing for the country, given Donald Trump, who assumes the presidency of the United States this 20 of January.

In that sense, the professor assured that there will be many changes at the geopolitical level and the Dominican Republic has to be attentive for better or worse.

“We will be in that dynamic of transformation that the world is going to experience,” he said.

Ciriaco called on the Dominican population in general to be “prudent, and to act based on the proposed goals and objectives, which will allow us to expand the possibilities of beginning a year.

“To Dominicans to prepare a balanced budget in relation to the issue of income and expenses for this year 2025, and tighten their pockets to spend the money with greater weight,” he urged.

The economist spoke in these terms, in the television program Primerísimas produced by journalist Yolanda Tapia, and broadcast on the Cinevisión channel every Saturday at 9:00 in the morning, and which is also available on the web and on YouTube.

Regarding what is expressed by international organizations, which define the Latin American economy by 2025 as “mediocre”, Antonio Ciriaco maintains that the Dominican Republic It does not fit in the line due to the performance it has had, especially in the recently completed 2024.

“This mediocre growth is due to the fact that Latin America still must develop, grow at a much higher rate, obviously to address those structural problems that it has accumulated for a long time,” he explained.

However, he highlighted that the country is rising above these economies and in the year 2024 grew more than 5%unlike other Latin American nations that did not exceed 2.3 or 2.4%.
