To more than 2,500 people from indigenous communities affected by heavy rains that were registered in the rural area of Riohacha, La Guajira, humanitarian aid will be delivered in sessions organized in each township, by representatives of the National Government, Turkish Embassy, TİKA and community leaders.
This aid will be provided through the National Unit for Risk Management (UNGRD), within the framework of the National Disaster Declaration due to climate variability, with the support of the Foreign Ministry and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
The director of the entity, Carlos Carrillo, revealed that humanitarian assistance includes 537 non-perishable food kits and 537 hygiene product kits.

The kits were prepared to cover the immediate basic needs of families and they will be delivered in sessions organized in each township, with the participation of representatives of the National Government, Turkish Embassy, TİKA and community leaders.

With these actions, we seek to provide well-being to the communities of La Guajira, working together to mitigate the impacts of the climate emergency and strengthen local capacities against future adverse events.
For his part, Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo, who was in La Guajira, sHe pointed out that the delivery of said aid is an example of how diplomacy, when done in coordination with the institutions, demonstrates that its effectiveness must be in the territories and this is an example of that.
