“My sister went out to walk the dog so she could do her business, and when we checked the security cameras, we saw that she was there until 6:25 pm,” Diego said.
A man is identified as the possible responsible
Authorities were able to identify a man as the last person who saw her. Thanks to security recordings, it was determined that the suspect had approached the girl and taken her in a vehicle.
“They checked some cameras and found that, apparently, this subject was the one who picked up the girl in a vehicle, for that reason they arrived there and detained him,” said Armando Medina, Secretary of the Government of Chiquinquirá.
The suspect, who was arrested and taken into preventive custody, initially confessed that the girl was in the Minero River, in the municipality of San Pablo de Borbur, Boyacá. However, according to Noticias RCN, he later retracted his statement, creating uncertainty about the minor’s whereabouts.

Despite the detainee’s retraction, the authorities continue the search for Laura Valentina in the waters of the Minero River, hoping to find her whereabouts.
Colonel Freddy Barbosa, commander of the Boyacá Police, expressed his concern about the case and assured that all necessary measures are being taken.
«There we evidence some elements related to the minor, so this subject is a possible person responsible for what could have happened to her. For this reason, we are working in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office and our judicial police,” said Barbosa.
