The Esmirda de Núñez high school, in the El Cruce sector, is one of the collection centers, which mainly receives displaced people from Tibú and Las Gabarras, after the clashes between the ELN and the FARC dissidents of the 33rd front, reported El Public TV.
The regional newspaper also reported that Mayor Dario Díaz in Jesús María Semprúm, Zulia state, began preparing a soccer stadium to receive people fleeing the Colombian armed conflict.
Various security agencies from Zulia and Mérida collaborate. There are personnel from the United Nations and UNHCR on site.

The government of Nicolás Maduro activated this Saturday, January 18, a operational to serve the population entering the country from Colombia due to the clashes between the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and a FARC dissident in the Catatumbo region, which have already caused around 30 deaths and more than 20 injured in two days.
In a message broadcast on Telegram, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reported that the operation was launched through Civil Protection and the mayors of the border towns of Jesús María Semprún (in the state of Zulia, northwest) and García from Hevia (Táchira, west).
