The president of the Commission, Álex Paredes, confirmed to Peru21 that next Thursday the 23rd there will be a vote on whether or not to begin the preliminary investigation stage of the complaint against the congressman of Somos Perú, José Jerí, for the complaint of alleged sexual rape.
The president of the Ethics Commission, Álex Paredes, told Perú21, in an interview on Facebook Live, that this Thursday the 23rd the Jerí case will be heard.
Paredes reported that in the aforementioned session a complaint filed by legislator Susel Paredes—from the Popular Democratic Block bench—against congressman Edwin Martínez will also be voted on. This is due to his unfortunate opinion in the Jerí case when he said that the woman who reported him for sexual abuse “should have controlled herself and not drunk so much.”
The head of Ethics told this newspaper—as we announced this Thursday— that he will have no problem recusing himself from this case because, like Jerí, he is a member of Somos Perú.
Because? To avoid speculation of shielding in favor of Jerí.
Peru21 Last Sunday he published an investigation into this complaint titled The Broken Cup of Jerí.
The incident occurred last December 29, at kilometer 54 of the Lima – Canta highway, in a property that responds to the name of Casa Club Santa Rosa de Quives.
YOU MUST COLLECT INFORMATION FROM THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
The former president of the Ethics Commission, Karol Paredes, has indicated to this newspaper that the work that the aforementioned working group should carry out is to collect all the information from the Prosecutor’s Office before starting a preliminary investigation.
“If I were the president (of the Ethics Commission), in a responsible manner, I would request all the information from the Prosecutor’s Office and with that information I will take the case ex officio,” she told Perú21.
