The president of the Congressional Ethics Commission, Álex Paredes, reported that, next week, they will hold an extraordinary session to evaluate whether to initiate a preliminary investigation against the Congressman José Jerí for alleged sexual violation committed in December 2024.
Likewise, Paredes reported that they have asked parliamentarian Jerí, in addition to the press conference he held, to send a defense responding to the accusation against him.
“We will abide by what the commission determines, but I do not guarantee that it will be on Monday. It will be next week, we are going to see that now in the commission,” he said, referring to “we will do what is pertinent in that case and those that are pending,” Paredes commented.
“What we are going to demand is that the code of ethics and the regulations of Parliament be respected. We have been here for four years and I can’t find any justification when this is violated. “Everyone must answer for their actions,” he added.
In addition to the complaint against Jerí Oré, Ethics will evaluate the one filed against Edwin Martínez for making sexist comments and re-victimizing the alleged victim.
