MIAMI, United States. – The Cuban comedian and actor José Téllez, popularly known as “El Chico Bombón”, was found dead this Wednesday in his residence in Miami, as confirmed by close friends through social networks.
At the moment, authorities have not released the official cause of death.
Journalist Guillermo Rodríguez reported in a short message on Facebook that the body of the Cuban comedian was found in his home and that, so far, “nothing else is known” about the circumstances of his death.
The news has shocked the Cuban artistic union in Miami and colleagues on the Island. The Cuban comedian Aleanys Jáuregui, known for her character Cuqui La Mora, lamented the death of her colleague: “I refuse to accept your departure, friend, I will think that you are there, I just don’t see you because time consumes us”, wrote on Facebook. For his part, comedian Andy Vázquez (Facundo Correcto in live from the story) express: “A week ago we were laughing… This is how we will remember you brother with that smile.”
Several Cuban humor figures also reacted to the sudden death. “A few minutes ago I learned about the death of José Téllez, El Chico Bombón. Regrettable news, within Cuban humor. Rest in peace”, commented Luis Silvathe popular actor who plays the character of Pánfilo in the humorous television series live from the story. Likewise, the presenter Carlos Oterothe actor Erdwin Fernandez and the comedian Ulysses Toirac They joined in the condolences.
José Ricardo Téllez Fernández was born on August 13, 1968 in Havana. He began his career with the group Los Hepatics, continued in Posdata and later collaborated with Humor and Medium. In addition, he was one of the founders of the Center for the Promotion of Humor in 1993.
Throughout his career, Téllez participated in multiple shows, television programs and made it to the movies. Cubans remember it in the films Long live Cuba and A king in Havana, where he shared a scene with Alexis Valdes.
