Procon-SP issued an alert this Wednesday (15) for consumers to be careful with illegal charges when paying with Pix. According to Procon-SP, the consumer cannot be charged with extra fees on payments made using this type of bank transfer.
“Nothing has changed, nor should it change, for the consumer. And, even if it changed, suppliers would not be able to charge any extra fee to receive payments by any method – Pix, credit card, debit card or bank slip”, said Patrícia Dias, technical advisor at Procon-SP.
According to Patrícia, the law prohibits the passing on to the consumer of fees that may be charged by financial institutions or payment method companies, since these charges make up business costs and cannot be charged separately depending on the method chosen by the buyer.
According to Procon-SP, consumers who are faced with being charged extra fees for payments must refuse, or register, in some way, the extra charge and make a complaint or report on the website of the institution.
