The European Union assured that the measure of limiting the legations of the Netherlands, France and Italy only produces more isolation of Venezuela
The high representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Kaja Kallas, expressed this Wednesday, January 15, her rejection of the measure taken by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to reduce the legations of the Netherlands, France and Italy to three diplomats, for which she requested Nicolás Maduro’s administration to reverse its decision.
Kallas, in a statement, indicated that the European Union described “unacceptable” Venezuela’s unilateral decision and therefore demands that the restriction be immediately reversed. In his opinion, it only serves to deepen the isolation of the country “and undermine bilateral relations with the EU and its Member States.”
On January 10, the bloc’s high representative for Foreign Policy already reaffirmed the EU’s “unwavering commitment” to the Venezuelan people and to the defense of democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
