President Luis Arce fired Alan Lisperguer, Minister of Environment and Water, from his ministerial cabinet this Wednesday after the Prosecutor’s Office began investigating him for alleged illicit enrichment.
“After the admission of a complaint against the Minister of Environment and Water for alleged illicit enrichment was made public, I have ordered his immediate dismissal so that he can assume defense in the appropriate instances,” Arce wrote on his social networks.
The Head of State added that he trusts that justice will investigate the facts and details of the case to render its verdict.
“Our Government, in compliance with the mandate of the people, will not tolerate any indication or act of corruption,” he stated.
The Minister of Water and his advisor Gabriel Delgado were reported by the Vice Ministry of Transparency to the Prosecutor’s Office.
“It has been initiated for the crimes of illicit enrichment and falsehood in the sworn declaration of assets, taking into account exclusively that there would actually be an increase not proportional to the income that these two authorities would have in relation to what they would have declared,” La Paz departmental prosecutor Luis Carlos Torrez said Tuesday.
