(EFE).- Last February there were 207 protests in Cuba for political, economic and social reasons as part of the “new non-violent tactics of civil society”, which include graffiti, distribution of repressor cards and letters of solidarity with Ukraine, according to a report by the Cuban Conflict Observatory (OCC).
In its monthly report published this Tuesday, the OCC, an autonomous civil society project supported by the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba, details that, of the 207 protests in February, 130 (63%) were for political reasons.

The economic reason he cites is fundamentally based on “the shortage of basic products, abuses against labor rights, the rejection of stores selling Freely Convertible Currency and citizen insecurity.”
Although the number of civil society protests on the island fell by 25% compared to the month of January, when according to the OCC there were 275, the observatory affirms that the protests in Cuba “are neither created nor destroyed: they are only transformed.” .
The “national wave of terror” in February included “sentences of up to 20 years in prison for dozens of defendants for the events of 11J, minors among them,” it quotes, “under fabricated charges of public disorder, contempt, attack, sedition, incitement to commit crimes, spread of epidemics, resistance and sabotage”.

The OCC, whose mission is “to expose, educate and empower citizens willing to take initiatives to promote the solution of the problems that afflict Cuban society,” stresses that the protests have adopted “a nonviolent guerrilla style.”
These include graffiti, distribution of flyers with files on repressors in public places, denunciations of the repression on social networks, sit-down strikes, and distribution of information materials through digital applications.
