Food debtors: Congress presents bill to restrict their access to concerts and other events

Congress of the Republic prohibits the use of miniskirts and shorts in its offices and other areas

Parliamentarian Diana Gonzales of Avanza País, decided to present draft Law No. 9890/2024-CR. This initiative aims to restrict the entry of food debtors to sporting events and entertainment shows, such as soccer games and concerts. This proposal seeks the modification of Law No. 28970, which establishes the Registry of Delinquent Food Debtors.

This project establishes that event organizing entities, companies and ticket sales platforms will have to periodically consult and update the REDAM, prohibiting sales to those registered in said registry. Likewise, the update must be carried out quarterly to ensure that debtors do not access these events.

Congresswoman Gonzales argues that the measure has the objective of strengthening the protection of the rights of minors and thus combating impunity for food debtors. “Failure to comply with food obligations seriously affects the lives of children and adolescents, who suffer from deficiencies in food, education and health.”, he noted.

The parliamentarian highlighted that, although the creation of REDAM represented progress, there are still flaws in its application.

Many debtors continue to allocate resources to the purchase of tickets for shows, often exceeding the amount of alimony they owe.“, held.
