The vehicle, designed to transport a driver and six passengers, had eleven people on board, which caused overcrowding. Under circumstances yet to be determined, the truck fell into an abyss more than 100 meters deep, causing the tragedy.
Six people lost their lives at the scene of the accident, while five others were injured, including four with serious injuries.
A survivor’s message
Miller Alexander Rodríguez, one of the survivors of the tragic accidentsent a message to the drivers through a video published by Laboyanos.com.
Although Rodríguez is hospitalized in a medical center in Neiva recovering from his injuries, he took the opportunity to give advice to those who travel this dangerous road.
«The only thing I ask drivers is to walk slowly, to be patient, it is better to waste half an hour, even if it is cloudy. I don’t want anyone to go through what happened to us; “Tread carefully,” he said, visibly affected.
The impact of this fatal accident has generated an outcry in the community, which has requested stricter measures to guarantee safety on the Pasto-Mocoa highway.
This road, known for its high danger due to the geographical conditions and the poor state of the road infrastructure, has been the scene of several accidents in the past, which has generated concern.
