The president of the Republic, Dina Boluartewill not appear tomorrow before the Prosecutor’s Office to testify within the framework of the investigation being carried out for the so-called presidential ‘casket’ case.
His lawyer Juan Carlos Portugal alleged that the Prosecutor’s Office extended the aforementioned investigation out of time “and we cannot validate a summons with an expired deadline,” he stressed.
In statements to RPP, Portugal specified that the president attended her fifth statement as under investigation last Monday, and she has done so – she said – in all the summons that the Public Ministry has made within the framework of an investigation with a current deadline.
In this context, he recalled that, weeks ago, President Boluarte asked the Public Ministry to be summoned for the investigation being carried out for the alleged use of the residential ‘chest’ in the escape of the owner of Perú Libre, the fugitive Vladimir Cerrón.

“The Public Ministry had the opportunity to call during the first 90 days of its preliminary investigation, three days later (after the deadline expired) it extended the investigation for 8 months; in our thesis outside the deadline,” Portugal indicated.
He added that in the case of the alleged deactivation of the Eficcop Special Support Team, the Public Ministry also extended the investigation period untimely, so they went to the supreme preparatory investigation judge who finally agreed with them.
“It is not a whim of the defense that they are making use of the bastion of the law, which is the deadline control hearing. So, the Public Ministry had negligently used it in an extemporaneous manner, as has happened here,” he added.
Portugal, finally, however, stated that if the supreme judge of preparatory investigation, through a hearing, rejects their position, they will appear before the Public Ministry to testify.
