The National Assembly (AN), unanimously approved, granting the Honors of the National Pantheon to the educator, philosopher, lawyer, politician, poet and literary critic, Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa, in accordance with the provisions of article 187, paragraph 15 of the Constitution. of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Crbv).
The agreement was presented by the AN deputy, Gilberto Giménez, general secretary of the People’s Electoral Movement (MEP) and grandson of Maestro Prieto Figueroa, who highlighted his legacy and example for future generations.
“The immense legacy of the Teacher of America goes far beyond the educational area, his fight for education as a fundamental right for the Venezuelan people, the organization and demands of the teaching profession, the thesis of the teaching State that he raised to confront the pretensions of the church and private sectors to parcel out education (…) from the MEP, fought for a true nationalization of hydrocarbons. He wrote the first labor law. He was a humanist and statesman and his word lit. It went from social democracy to socialism,” Giménez stressed.
Likewise, he described it as an act of justice and patriotism, an immortal master for his work.
For his part, the president of the AN, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, praised the achievements of Maestro Prieto Figueroa and his contributions to Venezuelan education.
“The honor that honors us as deputies by fulfilling the historical justice of taking the teacher of teachers, our civil hero, Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa to the National Pantheon,” Rodríguez praised.
The agreement contemplates granting Honors to the remains of the distinguished Venezuelan teacher, Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa to the National Pantheon in accordance with the provisions of article 187, paragraph 15 of the Crbv.
Likewise, send the agreement to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and to the sectoral vice president of politics, citizen security and peace; and Minister of Popular Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.
Finally, publish the agreement in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and give it maximum dissemination.
