In this context, it is necessary to remember that Cabani processed an inter-institutional agreement between its NGO Cabani Salud and EsSalud on July 17, 2023, that is, less than a month after operating on the president.

According to an investigation by Epicentro, the project that Cavani presented proposed “providing free facial reconstructive and aesthetic treatments and surgeries” to women victims of gender violence.

This proposal was evaluated internally by the entity for almost 18 months and was definitively archived on November 13, 2024, shortly before it became known that Cabani and the president of EsSalud, María Elena Aguilar del Águila, worked together years ago.

The agreement was rejected by the Senior Management.

In this regard, EsSalud informed Epicentro that Cabani’s project did not reach Aguilar del Águila’s office, however, they did not specify if she was aware of it.

For this reason, the Congressional Oversight Commissionsummoned, on December 10, 2024, President Dina Boluarte’s plastic surgeon to respond to the intervention and a possible recommendation from officials within the State, however, the doctor did not attend.

For now, the president’s defense has not confirmed again that Mario Cabani operated on the president. On January 13, after accompanying Boluarte in his statement before the Prosecutor’s Office for the surgery case, the lawyer said that he could not reveal all the names of the specialists who were present on the day of the operation.
