President Piñera says that 20 Chileans have left Ukraine: "They are safe"

President Sebastian Pinera indicated this Tuesday that 20 Chileans have managed to leave Ukraine. This, after the invasion ordered by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putinto the neighboring nation.

The President indicated that “10 Chileans have left with the help of our Embassy and Consulate in Poland, and 10 Chileans have left by their own means. Therefore, 20 Chileans, out of approximately 50, are safe, outside the territory of Ukraine.”

“At this moment many Ukrainian cities are being bombed by the Russian Armed Forces, which in fact has warned that it is going to start precision attacks, with which there is a huge number of people who are leaving the main cities to avoid the damage that that bombardment can produce”, he added.

The head of state pointed to a “chaotic situation” at the borders and that they contacted Chileans residing in Ukraine “before the war began. We warn them and we look for a way to collaborate with all of them to protect their lives, their integrity and their families”, he commented.

He also said that tomorrow the United Nations General Assembly will vote on a resolution “that essentially condemns the Russian invasion, demands the cessation of hostilities, demands respect for humanitarian law and, finally, demands respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent state like Ukraine.
