La Loma solar park delivers the first kilowatt hour of energy

Government advances in the green financing roadmap

La Loma, the largest solar park under construction in the country, delivered the first kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy to the National Interconnected System (SIN). With this milestone, Enel Green Power Colombia began the testing period for the project to enter into commercial operation during the course of 2022.

(The GEB reached profits of $2.52 billion in 2021).

“We are pleased to announce that this event will enable an upcoming injection of 17.4 megawatts (MW) of power to the SIN, a maneuver that will be possible thanks to the more than 36,000 solar panels installed to date. As the assembly of the modules progresses We will continue to deliver, on a scheduled basis, more energy on a trial basis, until we connect the 22 subfields of the park and reach their 187 megawatts in direct current (MWdc)”, stated Adrián Dugulán, responsible for Business Development at Enel Green Power in Colombia.

(Hidroituango: now with two dates to start operation).

The injection of the first kilowatt hour (kWh) was possible thanks to the maneuvers that allowed the energization of the step-up transformer at the Matepalma substation, the connection bay at the La Loma substation and its corresponding transmission line for energy transport. These last two, built and operated by Transmission, a company of the Bogota Energy Group (GEB).

“The entry into testing of the La Loma solar park is also very important for GEB and for Transmission, as it is one more step in the green agenda that we have outlined, an agenda for the future that addresses the transformation that the world is undergoing towards renewable energies. non-conventional renewables. For us it is gratifying to work with Enel Green Power Colombia, in order to be able to contribute from our experience as transmitters to the incursion of these energies into the National Interconnected System and thus reaffirm our commitment to improve lives with sustainable and competitive energy¨, said Fredy Zuleta Dávila, General Manager of Transmission.

It should be noted that the civil and electromechanical works of the park, located in the corregimiento of La Loma, in the department of Cesar, they present an advance of more than 60%. Once the more than 400,000 solar panels are interconnected, this photovoltaic project is expected to generate approximately 420 GWh/year, energy capable of meeting the needs of approximately 370,000 inhabitants.
