10 days after the start of management of the Women’s Secretariat, its internal regulations came into force yesterday, Saturday, after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). The text details its organization and the functions of the different areas.
The decree indicates that the new agency has two undersecretaries: that of Substantive Equality and that of the Right to a Life Free of Violence. It adds that it has a general coordination of Liaison and Monitoring, as well as a Legal Affairs Unit and another for Administration and Finance. In addition, 10 general directorates, including Intelligence, Innovation and Strategic Planning for the Continuous Improvement of Programs; of Rights and Dignification of Women; Prevention Policies; of Access to a Life Free of Violence, and of Care and Access to Justice.
It specifies that the agency is in charge of substantive equality issues; mainstreaming of the gender perspective; prevention, care and eradication of violence against women, adolescents and girls, and care system.
It stands out that the head of the agency, Citlalli Hernández Mora, has 32 powers, including issuing special programs on substantive equality; prevention, care and eradication of violence against women, and execute and monitor compliance with the content of the policies on the matter.
It must also promote and carry out, in collaboration with the public, private and social sectors, awareness campaigns and prevention of violence against women, and approve the preliminary draft of the annual budget of expenditures of the secretariat for submission to the Treasury and Public Credit, among many other functions.
The document also indicates that the Organic Statute of the National Women’s Institute is repealed.
Hernández Mora pointed out in his X account that The entire administrative legal process so that the Women’s Secretariat is completely born is advancing
and reported that she received the appointment signed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, which recognizes her as head of that agency.
