In the midst of multiple problems presented in recent months due to the shortage of drinking water and the emergency due to water deficit in the region, the general manager of the Service Provider Company – EPS Grau, Marco Tulio Vargas Trelles, presented his resignation from office.
According to Letter No. 001-2025/MTVT dated January 7, 2025, Marco Tulio Vargas Trelles presented his resignation from the position of general manager of EPS Grau SA, requesting that it be considered effective from Sunday, January 12, 2025 .
Thus, through Provision No. 000096-2025-OTASS-DE, the Executive Directorate of the Technical Agency for the Administration of Sanitation Services (OTASS) accepted the resignation formulated by Vargas Trelles.
Engineer Marco Tulio thanked the trust given for this position, indicating that for strictly personal reasons he has decided to present his letter of resignation and voluntarily.
Likewise, it was learned that next Tuesday the person who will replace Vargas Trelles in office would be known, who will have the task of proposing new strategies to keep the company, which is bankrupt, afloat.

Engineer Marco Tulio Vargas Trelles took office in July 2023, appointed by the OTASS, and more than a year and a half after his appointment, he decided to leave the position.
The official has been highly criticized where even authorities asked for his resignation due to the constant problems in this sector. The collapse of drains, the shortage of drinking water, among other problems, have been the main problems that they have not been able to solve.
Now the future of this entity will depend on the new authority, so the people of Piura hope that it will focus on solving the problems that affect thousands of Piurans.
During the water deficit emergency, EPS Grau officials have been criticized, however, at the time, manager Marco Tulio Vargas Trelles said that the entity was bankrupt so the problems would be solved little by little.
Currently, EPS Grau is carrying out maintenance on various wells in the province of Piura, causing these families to be left without water service for several days.
