In Mexico, Maduro divides positions and opens debate between politicians

The former presidents of Mexico, Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón, along with five other former leaders of Latin America, have spoken out against what they consider a “usurpation.”

Instead, they showed their support for Edmundo González Urrutia, leader of the opposition in Venezuela, in his intention to be sworn in as legitimate president, which is why the former Mexican leaders were declared persona non grata by the Venezuelan National Assembly.

Since Wednesday, the PAN representative, Mariana Gómez del Campo, also delivered a letter addressed to President Sheinbaum in which she asked not to send any official government representation to Maduro’s inauguration, considering that it was a act of concern and indignation.

The PAN representative, Lilly Téllez, also presented a Point of Agreement so that the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union urges Sheinbaum not to recognize Maduro as president of Venezuela and, in turn, “express a clear and forceful condemnation of his dictatorship.”

The PAN representative, Kenia López Rababán, also spoke out in favor of recognizing Edmundo González as president of Venezuela and stopping “being on the side of the bad guys.”

Another opposition politician who has spoken out against the Maduro government is Representative Margarita Zavala, who even this Thursday participated in a protest that took place outside the Venezuelan embassy in Mexico.
