After an international study by the TomTom Traffic institution revealed that Trujillo is among the 10 cities with the worst traffic in the world, the president of the Transportation Commission of the Council of the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo (MPT), Giancarlo Toribio Castro, asked the manager of Trujillo Metropolitan Transportation (TMT), Víctor del Carpio Sedano, make a “mea culpa” for this serious situation.

The councilor commented that it is not possible that at a national level they “sell” TMT as the maximum achievement of a Decentralized Public Organization (OPD) in this city, when in reality it is not fulfilling its function.
“I wonder, what is the job that TMT does? If I were the manager of TMT I would make a mea culpa. Remember that the manager (Víctor del Carpio) has many years in the field of transportation. He has had training, he is going to Colombia, he teaches seminars and courses. “He talks about the North-South Road Corridor for Trujillo as if that were the solution to the traffic problem and that is not true,” he stated.

Giancarlo Toribio recalled that the issue of the North-South Road Corridor and Feeder Routes for five districts is not new, as it dates back 10 years and, from his point of view, its execution would take place in about 10 more years. “They continue to do studies and reports, but very little specifically,” he questioned.
