This morning, a serious accident took place in the Sereno sector, on the Pozuzo – Codo del Pozuzo highway, when a large rock fell on a Toyota Corolla vehicle, leaving it in scrap metal. The car, owned by Erika Galarreta Huamán, was traveling on the road when the rockfall crushed it, leaving its occupants injured, one of them seriously injured.
According to information provided by the Police, the injured were quickly transferred to the district hospital, where they receive medical attention. The magnitude of the incident has highlighted the dangers that drivers face in this part of the Central Jungle, where continuous rainfall has caused several landslides and rockslides in recent weeks.
The authorities attribute the accident to a natural phenomenon caused by intense rains in the area, which caused the rock to fall at the precise moment the vehicle was traveling. The fact reiterates the need to take extreme precautions on the roads of this region, which are at constant risk due to adverse weather conditions.
