Patients Colombia requests the Attorney General's Office to protect the fundamental right of health

Patients Colombia, a movement that brings together 199 patient organizations throughout the country, has filed a right of petition with the Attorney General’s Office.

This action seeks to demand the protection of the fundamental right to health and demands a disciplinary investigation against the Minister of Health and Social Protection, as well as against the national superintendent of Health. Besides, They request formal responses to the concerns they have raised with the national government without receiving a response.

The appeal emphasizes the urgency of intervention by the Attorney General’s Office in the face of violations of fundamental rights to health, especially of patients in vulnerable situations.
Civil society requests the participation of different attorney offices that protect human and social rights to coordinate actions that address deficiencies in the health system.

Denis Silva, spokesperson for Patients Colombia, said that They presented the right to petition before the Attorney General’s Office as a call to rights protection organizations to intervene immediately in the face of the current deficiencies of the Colombian health system.

Let us hope that they take action against the conscious decisions that are being adopted by the national government, which constitute a direct violation of the right to health and the participation of civil society, particularly patient organizations, in public decisions that affect the quality of life of millions of people in the country“, argument.
