President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that during the meeting she held with the ambassadors and consuls she asked them to be closer to Mexicans residing abroad, with particular emphasis on those diplomatic missions that are in the United States. For this reason, he suggested that they open public hearings or other mechanisms that would allow them to have greater contact with the people.
On the other hand, when asked again about whether she has been invited to the inauguration of Donald Trump as the new president of the United States, Sheibaum responded: That is for President Trump to decide, we have no problem with that. So far, what have we received? An invitation at the Mexican embassy in the United States. So, we have not received any personalized calls. We will be there
.
Regarding the meeting with the members of the foreign service, the federal president indicated that at the meeting she explained her strategy since she was a delegate of Tlalpan and as head of Government in which she incorporated public hearings to interact with the people. As President, she said, she has no longer done so, but on her tours she has sought to maintain that contact in the territory.
Come out and see the line
“I told them about this and raised this idea of having a public hearing day. In such a way that they go out to the line at the consulate, see ‘the queue’ of our fellow citizens asking for a service, to be heard, to put themselves in their shoes: what is the problem? Why are they not served? What service are they asking for that for some reason is not being granted? “That they open the doors of representation, that they have an appointment system to directly receive Mexican migrants who are, particularly, in the United States,” the president proposed.
