Border closures reported in Zulia and Bolívar this #10Jan

Without notification from the governorates of Zulia and Falcón, it was learned that the borders through Santa Elena and Paraguachón are closed. Judging by what Freddy Bernal said, the closure would be until Monday

The announcement made in the morning hours of this Friday, January 10, by the governor of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, about the closure of the border with Colombia until Monday, seems to have been extended to the border points in Zulia and Bolívar; although without any official notice about this directive from the authorities.

In Zulia, journalist Jhorman Cruz indicated on social networks that during the early morning that the border with Colombia through the Paraguachón border crossing, in Zulia, was closed. He even indicated that some vehicles carrying passengers from Maracaibo were returned.

In addition, the deployment of military officials in the border area was evident.

On the other hand, the Caroni Mail indicated that residents of Santa Elena de Uairén, in the state of Bolívar, reported the closure of the border with Brazil. However, there is no officiality from the authorities either.

In the early morning, Freddy Bernal announced that the border with Colombia would be closed due to the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro, after learning that there are alleged plans against the nation.

«We have information of an international conspiracy to disturb the peace of Venezuelans and especially in this border area. In that sense, I call for the understanding of all sectors of society, ranchers, businessmen, entrepreneurs and people who normally circulate between Colombia and Venezuela, to understand why we are going to order the closure of the border with Colombia from the 5:00 am today until 5:00 am Monday,” he explained.
