The recent appointment to the Embassy of Peru in Spain of the First Technical Non-Commissioned Officer, Ruth Ligarda Castropersonal escort of the president Dina Boluarte and key witness in the “Chest” casehas unleashed criticism and suspicion about a possible attempt to protect her from justice.
This Friday, the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santivañezwas consulted by Juan Carlos Chamorro, journalist from Peru21about his role in this controversial appointment as auxiliary staff at the Peruvian diplomatic headquarters in Europe.
During a brief interaction with Chamorro, Santivañez made it clear that the decision does not go through his office. “That is not the minister’s function. “It depends on the General Command of the Police,” he responded as he ran through the halls of Congress, on his way to a meeting with the president of the Legislature.
Despite reporters’ insistence, the minister declined to comment further, adding that he would answer more questions upon his return.
A TRANSFER UNDER SUSPICION
Ligarda Castro has been Dina Boluarte’s escort since 2021, when she began her presidential campaign.
His role as a key witness in the “Cofre” case, where it is investigated whether Vladimir Cerron used a presidential vehicle to escape from Lima, places her at the center of a delicate judicial process that could compromise high-ranking government figures.
The decision to transfer her to a position considered highly esteemed within the National Police has been highly criticized by sectors of the opposition.
