In statements to the press, Richard Pellejero stated that he already knows Peruvian soccer, because he came to face teams, but now in the role of directing a team it is quite a challenge.
“I was leading a team in Montevideo and I was interested to know that Huancayo had noticed us and we loved the challenge. I have a young technical command, we have already worked together for several years and we have a lot ahead of us,” he indicated.
He also spoke about the objective at Rojo Matador: “It is to fight at the top (…) get the result game by game and be among the first and achieve international football again.”
Regarding the squad, he said: “The team was 90% formed but I am confident because the team is young, but also with a mix of experienced people.” However, he also said that there is a lack of people on the defensive and midfield sides.
Finally, he referred to the style of play that he will impose and that is to propose, being a protagonist especially with large teams, applying a strategy seeing the weak side of the rival. “The people of Huancayo do not hesitate and believe in this team,” he concluded. Sport Huancayo adds two more hires: Jonathan Murillo 🇨🇴Lombian defender and Willy Díaz Peruvian goalkeeper.
