According to the regulator, this is the highest figure recorded in the last five years, and meant a growth of 12.3% when compared to 2023. The advance, as explained, was mainly a consequence of operator changes in mobile lines.
Regarding the portability of postpaid lines, it set a historical annual record with more than 4.6 million ports completed throughout 2024, the highest figure in the last ten years.
Prepaid lines reported more than 1.6 million lines, equivalent to 26.2% of the total ported in 2024, according to information from Osiptel’s Punku digital tool.
“Number portability is the right that users have to keep their landline or mobile telephone number when they change operating companies. This regulatory measure has contributed greatly to the competitive dynamics of the sector, for the benefit of users,” said the executive president of OSIPTEL, Anívar Rodríguez Rodríguez.
The operating companies that obtained positive net results (that is, the difference between lines gained and lost) during 2024 were Claro and Entel with a favorable balance of 181,183 and 137,201, respectively.
